Notes on Release 9.0 (Via)

The new version of GVO has the following features:

 

  1. Logging on

Users now log in using their email address and password.

The website address to use for a bookmark for login is

  1. User Interface

The user interface has been improved significantly to provide full function from tablets and mobiles/smartphones as well as desktops and laptops. The main navigator can be collapsed to create more space for viewing content, and the display will adapt depending on the device in use. There is no need for a separate app. One needs simply to create an icon on your phone or tablet homepage.
 

  1. The “What’s new” page

Changes have been made to reduce clutter and make it easier to identify material.  Content in GVO will not show up in “What’s new” if it has simply been edited. So if you want to make others aware of an edit, please use the “Share” button. If a comment is added to a document that will cause the document to be added to “What’s new”. If there are multiple comments the document will be listed once with a note of the number of comments.
 

  1. Preview

The formatting of previews has been improved significantly. To create the properly formatted preview the system will automatically process a newly loaded file. This can take a few seconds. Once created, the preview version is stored and should display without delay.
 

  1. Comments tab

The number of comments that have been made to a document, event, or task is now shown on the comment tab.

  1. Share button

Makes alerting people to things simpler and more intuitive.

  1. Personal profile

There is now a facility to include a photo.

  1. Policy maintenance

There is now a facility to define your own policy types

  1. Assigning permissions

This has been simplified so that permissions are granted by the Manager by ticking boxes on an individual profile. All the group memberships of an individual can be seen by looking in one place - the individual’s profile.

  1. Password resets

There is now an automated function for this (use the 'Forgotten Password' option on the login screen for a new password..

From time to time you will receive notifications from the application and so it is important that any filter you may have on your email application will allow these notifications to pass. The notifications will come from noreply@mg.thegvoffice.com
