Calendar

The GVO calendar is at the heart of your GVO system and ideally should show everything that is happening at your school/college/club/charity throughout the year that may be of interest to the Governors as well as all the various Governor meetings and training opportunities.

The calendar contains key information such as holidays, INSET days, Governing Board meetings, Committee meetings, events, Governor training.

The responsibility for maintaining the calendar is a local decision – some locations expect the clerk to do it all, others delegate various tasks – in one example the admin team maintain the holidays and other events (such as plays, sports days, INSET days), the clerk manages the main governor meetings and the committee chairs manage their own committee information in the calendar and their committee library.

The GVO allows you to operate in the way that suits your local team best. Items added to the calendar will appear in the weekly email which will act as a reminder to the governors. It is also possible to have meeting details sent to your personal calendar on your PC or tablet – in this way the governors are kept up to date with everything that is happening.

It is easier to see this in action - here is a link to a short (4 minute) video which shows how it works and how to add events to the calendar.

Note: When creating a Calendar event the 'drop down' to select a folder (2nd Location) to store the event is MANDATORY - this is needed as it will (by default) be the location where any meeting files are stored (although each file can be stored in a different location). The video does not show this field is mandataory. The event will be visible in the folder AND the Calendar.
