When you wish to edit an item (a document, task, meeting, discussion, policy etc) then this is done using the Actions/Edit option. This will only be available if you have permission to edit the document.
If this Edit option is missing then this will be due to restrictions at the folder or individual document level (and if you have author access to this item). If the document has the 'Restricted' key showing and you cannot see the Actions/Edit option then click on the link to see if it is the document or the folder that is stopping you from making the edit. You will see the people who can edit it in a 'pop up' screen.
The simple flowchart below explains the checks that are made to determine if you can edit the item. You should contact your local GVO Manager or Folder/Document owner to change the access if you need to edit a document.
