Adding a link to a Training Course

Here are the steps needed to add a link to a Training Course from a page, task, discussion or calendar event* (meeting pack). This will add a link to the course in the Description part of the Task, Page or Meeting Pack.

(*) Note: In the case of a Calendar Event (Meeting Pack) there is a drop-down that allows you to add a link to a specific training course (see below)

To add links to training courses in Pages, Discussions or Tasks or multiple links in a meeting pack then here are the instructions...

  1. Navigate to the Training Course you wish to link to (do one at a time for multiple links)...

  2. Look at the top of the web page for the 'url' (web address of the course..click on it with your mouse and it will change colour..

    Course web address

Either use right-click and 'copy' with your mouse or use Ctrl-C on the keyboard. This will add the course web address to your clipboard.

  3. Go to the 'page' (Task, Discussion, Calendar Event) where you wish to add the link and open for editing... look on the toolbar for the 'link' icon...

    link icon

Click on this and this pop-up will open...

    Link pop-up

Place your cursor in the url box and either right-click/paste or Ctrl-V to save the course address in the box.

You can amend the Display Text and also if you use the 'Target' tab you can control how the link works (New Window etc).

If you wish to add the link into the list of items (papers) in the meeting then this isa slightly different process...

  1. Get the url (web address) of the training course (as above)

  2. In the meeting pack use the 'Add Links to files already in GVO' option and pick any file.

  3. This will create a line in the pack like below...

Go to the right hand box and delete everything there and paste the web address (URL) of the course

Go to the left hand box and add an appropriate title for the link to the course ...like this...

    Add link to course

Press 'Submit' when you are satisfied with how this looks.

This will then look like this in the meeting pack (one link in the Description, one link in the list of papers)....
