In a large multi-academy trust (MAT) there can be a large number of governors (across all the schools that form the MAT). It is not always desired that the personal information such as email address and telephone number of a governor in one school is visible to a governor in another school within the trust.
The GVO allows the MAT structure to be set up with 'Boards' (one Trust Board plus Local Governing Boards (LGB) to represent the schools).
The principle adopted by GVO is that a user will only see the personal information of another Governor if they are both in the same Trust Board or Local Governing Board. The personal information for other Governors will be 'redacted'.
Using the diagram below this means that a Governor in LGB School 1 will only see the personal information of Governors in that same LGB - the data for Governors in School 2, 3,4 and the Trust board will not be visible. They can still send notification emails to any governors/trustees via the Share/Notify function.
Note: The 'Other Information' information is visible to all GVO Users
If the Governor looks at the member list, or any part of the GVO where personal data is shown (such as email address or telephone number) then the personal data is 'redacted' unless they are in the same 'board' - see the example below where user 'GVOEDITOR' can only see the data for certain users.
